Rumor: Samsung Galaxy S3 to sport 4.65-inch 720p Super AMOLED+ display, carrier testing in process

To say that the Samsung Galaxy S3 is the most awaited smartphone of 2012 would be a huge understatement. To say that the folks  at Samsung are doing an awesome, yet unbelievably annoying job in building up the tension with regularly leaked “information” from “anonymous” sources would be an even bigger understatement.

Well, no matter if you like it or not, if you’re already fed up with the rumors or you can’t get enough of them, today we have yet another speculation concerning the Galaxy S3, coming, of course, from unnamed sources.
According to Korean website ddaily.co.kr, the Samsung Galaxy S III will feature a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED Plus display with 1280 x 760 pixels resolution. The rumor comes just a week after another confidential source told the Digitimes that Sammy’s future flagship will sport a 4.6-inch Super AMOLED Plus panel with a pixel density of 319 ppi, so all in all, as far as I’m concerned, neither of the two speculations should be taken too seriously.
On the other hand, experience tells me that most such rumors prove to be at least partially based on truth, so, for the time being, I guess that a 4.625-inch display is also on the cards (I’m only half kidding, just so you know).
On a very serious note, though, does anyone here think that it’s so important to know exactly what size will the Galaxy S3’s screen be at the moment? And also, would anyone notice a 0.05-inch difference in size, without a caliper that is? I guess not, which is why I think that a different rumor, which also surfaced today, might actually be more interesting than this.

Galaxy S3 is undergoing carrier testing

According to AsiaE, Sammy has already started testing the Samsung Galaxy S3 with several Korean carriers. If this proves to be true, we can assume that the handheld’s release is about two months away, giving that, usually, the testing process of such a gadget takes about that long.
On the other hand, AsiaE reports that Samsung might in fact be forced to extend the testing period, as the Galaxy S3 will most likely be the most complex gadget that the Korean electronics giant has ever had to test. As you probably already know, most rumors these days state that the Galaxy S3 will be powered by a quad-core processor and will feature 4G LTE connectivity, which will definitely make it challenging for the phone to pass all the necessary tests in just two months time.
Getting back to the rumor concerning the Galaxy S3’s screen for a second, it’s worth stating that, if the display will come with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution, it will actually be the first non-Pentile phone screen from Samsung’s OLED arm to reach full HD resolution. Taking that into consideration, it will be very interesting to see if such a cool, high-res Super AMOLED Plus display will look better and crisper than the HTC One X’s screen, which many technology experts right now consider to be the most beautiful screen ever to grace an Android-based smartphone.
Unfortunately, this is pretty much all I can report to you at this time about the Samsung Galaxy S3, but stay tuned on our website, as we are bound to find out more about what could be the biggest Android success in history.
