Following up on the story of how Asus Transformer Prime owners can expect to get a free GPS extension kit to fix the GPS issues that has been plaguing the tablet, Land of Droid has some exclusive pictures of the dongle. How would the extension kit fit into your beloved TF201 tablet? Check out the pictures below.

As you can see, the GPS dongle matches the color of the Asus Transformer Prime TF201 tablet, so if you like your gadgets and their accessories thoroughly color-matched, that’s one worry out of the way. Aside from the dongle posing in various positions, you can also see how the device fits with the tablet. Thanks to the secure mechanism, you won’t have to worry that the device will wobble or even fall off the device.

As tested by the good folks at Land of Droid, the GPS dongle works perfectly and it does improve the GPS function of the Asus Transformer Prime TF201. Bearing in mind that this is a test unit, the final product may have a slightly different appearance. Note, however, that you won’t be able to use the GPS extension kit in tandem with the tablet’s keyboard dock, but do you really need a keyboard when you’re in the car?
Asus is expected to make an official announcement about the GPS extension kit for the Transformer Prime TF201 tomorrow, at which point the Taiwanese will probably supply details about the dongle’s availability. An OTA update to accommodate the GPS dongle is likely to be sent out by Asus.
Whatever design flaw the Asus TF201 has, we sure hope that the same fate won’t befall the upcoming Transformer Pad 300.
